7 Surprisingly Instagrammable Spots in Greater Auckland

In a land of stunningly photogenic beauty, what does New Zealand's biggest city have to offer? It turns out, plenty of 'grammable spots to go around.

Cities

1. Piha Beach

This relatively remote black sand beach is known for its intense surf, but also as a picturesque getaway from the city. Climb Lion Rock for this view, or grab fish and chips on the beach and relax.

2. Auckland Harbour

Let's face it, any ferry ride in half decent weather in Auckland is going to be pretty damn photogenic - largely because of the sheer number of idyllic-looking islands haphazardly scattered around the place.

3. Mt Eden

This a great easily-accessible spot from the city centre that affords a great view, especially for sunset.

4. Muriwai

Another West Coast beauty, this beach is known for it's famous gannet colony and so is often popular with photographers.

5. Bayswater Marina

Okay, so it's not actually the Marina itself that's most commonly photographed here, but you can see for yourself that the view back towards Auckland City is worth a visit.

6. Waiheke Island

Sort of like number 2, you'd be hard pressed to find an island in the Hauraki Gulf that wasn't at least a liiittle bit photogenic. Waiheke is not only easily accessed by ferry, it also comes with local wineries. Sweet!

7. Just about any Regional Park

Considering Auckland is primarily known for it's inner city, you may be surprised to learn there are plenty of great regional parks nearby. Take Shakespear, Tapapakanga, Hunua, or Long Bay, for example...
